Myanmar Squash Federation(MSF) was only founded in 2014 and its first participation in an international event was at the 2015 SEA Cup and later in the 2015 SEA Games which were both held in Singapore. MSF was keen to popularize the sport in their country and a young Federationmade the bold bid to host the 2016 SEA Cup at their nation’s capital, Nay Pi Taw. The Championship was held from 11 – 17 January, at the Wunna Theikdi Squash Stadium. Five countries participated namely, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. The format for the Mixed Team Championship was the same as in the preceding year in Singapore. However, Myanmar requested that Individual and Jumbo Doubles (for Men and Women) be also added to the championship. The Philippines made their mark when they captured the Women’s Jumbo Doubles Gold.

The 2nd SEASF AGM held on 17 January 2016, at Wunna Theikdi Squash Stadium was attended by all six original Member Federations.
